Launchers for NASAMS air defense systems from Lithuania arrived in Ukraine

Ukraine received launchers for NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems from Lithuania. They will complement and expand the operational capabilities of NASAMS systems transferred from Norway and the United States.

The relevant information was reported to the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense on November 10. Along with the installations, transport for the crew was sent to Ukraine.

What is known about launchers from Lithuania

The NASAMS launchers acquired by Lithuania will be integrated into the fire control units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, thereby complementing and expanding the operational capabilities of the NASAMS systems transferred by Norway and the United States, said the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense Arvydas Anusauskas.

The department noted that Lithuania signed a contract with the Norwegian company Kongsberg in June for the purchase of launchers. NASAMS transferred to Ukraine. Before their transfer, Ukrainian military personnel underwent comprehensive training in Norway, including driver courses and repair courses.

In addition to the launchers in the NASAMS air defense system, Lithuania transferred to Ukraine:

• vehicles needed by air defense missile systems crews;
• additional equipment for NASAMS rocket launch systems and fire control centers.

The ministry noted that the Lithuanian Armed Forces provided assistance to Ukraine. They added that the total cost of military assistance from Lithuania to Ukraine is already approximately 0.5 billion euros.
