He warned that those responsible for the fact that the shelters are still in the wrong state will be held accountable.
“Unfortunately, some heads of districts and local officials do not fulfill their assignments and their duties in a quality manner. There are complaints from the people of Kiev that many shelters are not equipped. Or, worse, they are closed. People cannot get there during an air raid. Therefore, we will take strict solutions so that those who are in charge of the preparation and maintenance of shelters on the ground are responsible. If they are not able to work effectively, we will look for those who can fulfill their duties with dignity,” Vitali Klitschko emphasized.
He also stressed that the city allocated about 100 million hryvnia a few months ago to bring the shelter into proper condition. Each district of Kyiv received funds.
At first, district officials complained that there was no money. The money has been allocated. But not everyone is in a hurry to realize what they received funds for. This is an unacceptable situation! After all, security is a key issue for every citizen of Kiev today. – stressed Klitschko.

The mayor of the capital stressed that all shelters, storages or dual-use rooms should be accessible to people during an air raid alert. Dual-use premises, even those that are rented or owned and where shops or cafes are located, should be opened as a shelter in times of danger. All bomb shelters should be simply equipped for people to stay in them, including small children.
According to Vitali Klitschko, checks on the condition of shelters will be held in all districts of the city.
Today, they use more than 4 thousand shelters for the population. Among them are dual-use facilities, underground car parks, underpasses, subway premises, basements and basements, as well as shelters at enterprises.
