The chief of staff of the Azov brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, Bogdan Krotevich, filed a complaint to the court against the State Bureau of Investigation due to the fact that the State Bureau of Investigation did not initiate a case against the former commander of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Sodol.

Investigation against Yuri Sodol

According to Bohdan Krotevich, on June 27 he received a response from the State Bureau of Investigation, where he was informed that they would add his statement against Yuriy Sodol to the case of the Russian military breaking through the border in the Kharkiv region.

— This means that the State Bureau of Investigation is breaking the law and doing so in the most defiant manner possible. This is, in fact, deliberate inaction. I translated the letter for myself: Hello, Bohdan, we don't care about you and the law of Ukraine, live with it, — the serviceman noted.

Bohdan Krotevich was not called to testify, despite his requests. On July 4, he filed a complaint against the State Bureau of Investigation so that a case against General Yuri Sodol would be opened and an investigation would begin.

But the judge scheduled the case for hearing, despite the fact that she was supposed to go on vacation on July 10. Bogdan Krotevich's lawyers achieved a new automatic assignment of judges, but the case was again scheduled for hearing on August 19, although the new judge was also going on vacation on July 15.

— These actions, as well as communication between different people and some calls, made it clear to me that there was an order from above — not to move this case forward, — the Ukrainian serviceman is convinced.

Bogdan Krotevich noted that Yuriy Sodol was fired, but his henchmen retained their positions and are doing everything to cover for him.

Commanders of various brigades approached Krotevich with a willingness to testify against Sodol. The Ukrainian serviceman also hinted that he could have received threats. He called for the case to be followed through if “disappears within six months, a brick falls on his head, or a car explodes”.

At the end of May, the State Bureau of Investigation announced the start of an investigation into the circumstances of the breakthrough of the border by Russian troops in the Kharkiv region, which occurred on May 10, 2024.
