Kovtun won two golds at Euro 2024 in artistic gymnastics

Ukrainian gymnast Ilya Kovtun won two gold medals at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rimini, Italy. He placed top of the podium in the parallel bars and high bar exercises.

At first, 20-year-old Kovtun showed the best time in qualifying in both disciplines, and in the final of the competition he managed to maintain the lead.

In parallel bars exercises, Kovtun was ahead of Cypriot Marios Georgiou and Noe Seifert from Switzerland. In the horizontal bar exercise, Lithuanian Robert Tvorogal and Cypriot Marius Georgiou shared the podium with the Ukrainian.

Note that Kovtun became the third Ukrainian gymnast in history to receive two personal golds at the European Championships in one year. Previously, Alexander Beresh and Oleg Vernyaev succeeded in this.

Ukrainian Nazar Chepurnoy also claimed a medal in the parallel bars exercises, but he finished the competition in sixth position. At the same time, the 21-year-old Ukrainian became a bronze medalist in the vault.

The first award among Ukrainians at Euro 2024 in artistic gymnastics was received by Oleg Vernyaev in the all-around — he became the silver medalist of the competition.

The European Men's Championship in Rimini will last until April 28. And from May 2 to 5, the women's Euro 2024 in artistic gymnastics will take place here.
