Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has suspended his first deputy Mykola Povoroznik, who is featured in a journalistic investigation about celebrating his birthday on April 25, the Day of Mourning for those killed in the Russian strike on the capital.

According to journalists from the Informer publication, the first deputy mayor of Kyiv, Mykola Povoroznik, celebrated his birthday during working hours on the Day of Mourning, April 25.

The day before, Russia attacked Kyiv, killing 12 people in the capital's Svyatoshinsky district. The publication published photographs of the celebration on the territory of the Vyshgorod water utility on the shore of the Kyiv Sea.
The following were present at Povoroznik's celebration: Dmytro Zahumennyi, who has headed the Kyiv City State Administration since 2018; Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Vyacheslav Nepop; Director of the Department of Housing and Communal Infrastructure Dmytro Naumenko; Vladislav Andronov, who has held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration for the implementation of self-government powers since 2022, and later it became known about his appointment to the position of Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration for land issues.
Deputy Mayors Petr Panteleev, Valentin Mondrievsky, and Anna Starostenko arrived for the birthday celebration.
The birthday party was also attended by the Director of the Finance Department of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council, Volodymyr Repik, the press secretary of Klitschko, Oksana Zinovieva, and the head of the analytical support department of the city mayor, Oleksiy Komarov.
Klitschko's reaction to journalistic investigation
Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized that the mechanism for appointing and dismissing the first deputy chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration is regulated by Ukrainian law.
Klitschko ordered an internal investigation into the “celebration”. The investigation will be conducted by the Kyiv City Council deputies who initiated the vote of no confidence in Mykola Povoroznyk.
– Based on the results of the official investigation, a legal decision must be made! During the investigation, the first deputy will be suspended from performing his duties, – Klitschko noted.
Let us recall that on June 10, 74 deputies of the Kyiv City Council expressed no confidence in the first deputy, Mykola Povoroznik.
