On Wednesday, September 13, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin held their meeting at the Vostochny cosmodrome. They probably discussed primarily the supply of ammunition from North Korea for the Russian army

However, Kim would not cooperate if Chinese leader Xi Jinping did not approve. Therefore, the meeting of two dictators is not a linear phenomenon. Military expert Petr Chernik told Channel 24 about this, noting that there are certain advantages of this cooperation for the strategic historical dimension, as well as serious concerns for the whole world.

“Kim Jong-un could not play on his own without the permission of Xi Jinping. He allowed such a step. Why? Xi tickles the nerves of the United States, because a lot of serious issues have accumulated between America and China. And we need to sit down at the negotiating table and resolve them, or at least look for common ground for a solution,” said the military expert.

What are the pros and cons of cooperation

Pros – the so-called second army of the world is asking for weapons from North Korea, which they did not see on their geopolitical radars 10 years ago. Such actions on the part of Russia can be considered a sign of strategic weakness.

Disadvantages – the axis of evil is of course shown: Russia, North Korea, China, Iran, Syria and even Cuba. There are rumors that Cuban volunteers will be allowed to participate in the war against Ukraine. However, we understand that the Euro-Atlantic space is stronger in its combined military and economic power.

China is playing a strategic game, because it is ripe to become a global gem. However, the Chinese have a long-standing, millennia-old philosophy – not to rush into anything.

The Dragon has awakened to world dominance, but has not yet decided to lift the air and shower everyone with fire. He still contemplates and studies everything that happens around him and in the world. But there is no doubt that this is a new dominant force that will inevitably have to be fought,” Chernik emphasized.

Russia will receive a certain amount of weapons from North Korea

North Korea is a fairly militarized country. Of the 22 million population, about 2 million serve in the army. They did not stop replicating weapons that grew out of the technological structure of the Soviet Union.

The Koreans produce: 122 mm shells, 155 mm shells and rockets for the BM-21 Grad. Therefore, North Korea will transfer something to Russia, but not in such large quantities as is being talked about in the media space.

Since Russia independently produces more than 125 thousand shells every month – this is the largest figure in the world. For example, the United States produces about 26 – 28 thousand shells per month, if by mid-autumn they increase production to 50 thousand, it will be very good.

Meeting between Putin and Kim: what is known

  • A meeting took place between the Russian dictator and the head of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un. Probably, there was talk about arms supplies to Russia. Despite the absence of official statements, experts suggest that both sides did not fully get what they wanted.
  • According to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kirill Budanov, the DPRK has been supplying the aggressor country with weapons for a month and a half – 155 and 122 millimeter shells, as well as missiles for Grad missiles.
  • The US State Department also responded to Vladimir Putin’s meeting with Kim Jong-un in Vladivostok. They are concerned about the possible cooperation between the two dictators. But they also noted that Putin is now “travelling around his country with his hat in hand” and looking for help.
