Harris has high ratings and is a serious competitor to Republican candidate Donald Trump. However, from the point of view of the Ukrainian issue, a potential victory for Harris also has risks, Valeriy Klochok, head of the Vezha Public Analysis Center, told Channel 24.

What is the risk for Ukraine from a Harris victory

Kamala Harris' potential is not exhausted. However, if we look through the prism of the Ukrainian issue, there is no need to be euphoric about Kamala Harris's likely victory in the elections.

After all, she positions herself as a fairly moderate politician. Just look at her position regarding Israel's war against Hamas. Harris openly and frankly takes the side of Palestine, condemns military action and calls for reconciliation.

For us, this could be a challenge, because her victory could mean support for Ukraine only within the limits that exist now and no more. This would create conditions for actually forcing Ukraine to make concessions to the Russians, Klochok said.

In any case, today there are risks from the victory of both the Republican and Democratic candidates. However, according to the head of the Center for Public Analysis “Vezha”, there are big risks from Trump's victory.

For the United States, the best option is when the Americans do not give up their primacy to China, and Trump actually questions the need for such a positioning of the United States. He does not consider it necessary, for example, to maintain Euro-Atlantic cooperation at a high level, which Harris promises to do, Klochok noted.

According to him, Kamala Harris's victory is simply a gift for Europe. Now European officials have become complacent after replacing Joe Biden.

What are Harris' chances of winning?

However, we shouldn't rush to make any definite conclusions about this campaign, because the situation in the States is quite interesting. In many States, Trump has the majority of votes. Therefore, everything will depend on the number of voters who will be elected from the states.

It is possible that the story with the election of Hillary Clinton may repeat itself. However, there is one significant nuance – Kamala Harris is only at the beginning of the election campaign, – added the head of the Center for Public Analysis “Vezha”.
