Kamala Harris was born on October 20, 1964 in Oakland, California to a doctor and Stanford professor university.
After graduating from Westmount High School in 1981, Harris attended Howard University in Washington, D.C., majoring in political science and economics.
In 1989, she earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in California.
In 1990, Harris was admitted to the State Bar of California.
