According to Johnson, in two weeks after the invasion, Vladimir Zelensky called him. At that moment, the Ukrainian president was calm.

Zelensky was very, very calm. But, he tells me, you know, they attack everywhere,โ€ Johnson recalled.

During the conversation, the ex-premier offered Zelensky to transport him to a safe place. However, the president refused.

“He did not accept this proposal from me. He heroically remained where he was,” Johnson said.

We are here. We are in Kyiv. We are defending Ukraine, – Zelensky

A day after the Russian invasion, on February 25, Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed in his video message to the Ukrainians that he, the Prime Minister and other key state officials remain in Kyiv.

Thus, the president showed on video that, apart from him, the leader of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, the head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, Prime Minister Denys Shmihal, and adviser to the head of the presidential administration, Mikhail Podolyak, remain in Kyiv.
