The names of preschool educational institutions must comply with the norms of Ukrainian spelling and the standards of the state language.

The Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language addressed these words to local governments, local military administrations and owners of private educational institutions Taras Kremen.

— We receive frequent complaints regarding the names of preschool educational institutions, which are Russian-language in nature, do not meet the standards of the state language, and some — just common sense, — he says.

Renaming kindergartens

In particular, during a random check of the names of preschool education institutions in the register of subjects of educational activities, the following names were found: Ivushka, Palms, Karandashkino, Solnyshko, Kuznechik, Cornflower, Topolek, Zorenka, Zainka, Cheryomushki, Roma+ Mashka, KulBabochka, Inzherash, Mugurel, Universul prikindeilor, Endekert, Pachirta, Montessori femeli, Britannica kids, Speak English, Greenrice kids.

It is reported that these names are often found in the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine.

— We must resolutely defend the priority of the state language in all spheres of life, because this is strengthening national interests and strengthening national security, — said Flint.

He called on local authorities to make every effort to permanently get rid of foreign words in the names of preschool education institutions.
