“It is impossible to deny”: Azerbaijani parliament demands apology for plane shot down by Russia Sofia Rozhik

On December 25, an Azerbaijani Embraer-190 plane crashed in Kazakhstan, killing almost 40 people and injuring another 29 hospitalized. The Azerbaijani government confirmed that it was shot down by a Russian missile.

The Azerbaijani side also stated that the Russian side should apologize for the plane crash, which was flying from Baku to Grozny. This was reported by Channel 24, citing the Turan publication.

Azerbaijan demands that Russia be held accountable for its actions

MP Rasim Musabekov stated that the plane was shot down on Russian territory, over Grozny.

“It is impossible to deny this,” he said.

Musabekov also noted that Russian media are already trying to cover up Russia's guilt.

Those who did this must be held criminally liable and compensated. If this does not happen, of course, relations will reach another level, the Azerbaijani MP emphasized.

By the way, Reuters, citing Azerbaijani sources, stated that preliminary results confirmed that the plane was shot down by the Russian Pantsir-S air defense system.

“No one is claiming that this was done intentionally. However, given the established facts, Baku expects the Russian side to admit to shooting down the Azerbaijani plane,” they said.

Three other Reuters sources also confirmed such preliminary findings of the Azerbaijani investigation. Meanwhile, Russia has not yet commented on them.
