Italy does not intend to change its position regarding granting Ukraine permission to strike Russian territory with Italian weapons.
This was stated by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Le Monde reports.
Tajani on granting Ukraine permission to strike Russia
— Our position regarding the use of weapons by Ukraine is not changing, they can only be used within Ukrainian territory, — he said.
His comment came after a New York Times article that said Washington had given Ukraine permission to strike Russian territory with American long-range missiles.

The media is calling the decision a strategic shift two months before Donald Trump takes office.
Tajani also came out in support of the idea of a “peace conference” involving Russians, Chinese, Indians and Brazilians. He believes that Beijing can play a positive role in making Moscow understand that the war must end.
In addition, the head of the Italian Foreign Ministry commented on the presence of DPRK troops on the Russian side. The official called it a “bad signal”.
Earlier, German government spokesman Wolfgang Buchner said that Chancellor Olaf Scholz had not changed his mind and was not ready to transfer Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine even after the US decision to allow Kyiv to fire ATACMS at Russian territory.
At the same time, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot neither confirmed nor denied that Ukraine was given permission to use SCALP missiles to strike deep into Russian territory. Le Figaro wrote about this, but then removed the publication.
