In the French city of Saint-Etienne, a life-sentenced killer has finally been arrested. He is associated with the Italian mafia group 'Ndrangheta. This happened with the support of the INTERPOL project, which is fighting against this organization.
Actually, we are talking about the 63-year-old Edgardo Greco, who was on the run for 16 years. It is known that he escaped from under a temporary police guard in Italy in 2007.
What the mafiosi was convicted of
Before escaping from custody, the man was to be sent to life imprisonment for the murders of Stefano and Giuseppe Bartolomeo. In addition, he is accused of attempted murder of Emiliano Mosharo, a participant in the “mafia war” between the gangs of Pino Sena and Perna Prano. This confrontation began in the 90s of the last century.
Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi commented on the arrest. He noted that law enforcement officers have demonstrated the commitment of the country in the fight against all forms of organized crime. Dedicated officers around the world will always ensure justice,” he said.
At the same time, we emphasize that the arrest of persons associated with the 'Ndrangheta is the main goal of INTERPOL Cooperation Against Ndrangheta. The organization has already helped arrest dozens of fugitives around the world since its launch in 2020.
Pay attention! The 'Ndrangheta mafia has emerged in the Italian region of Calabria. It is considered the largest and most powerful mafia group in Italy. The organization operates on all continents and is suspected of cocaine trafficking, which is sent to Europe from South America.
Recall that in January 2021, the trial of the 'Ndrangheta crime syndicate started. This trial was the largest trial of an organized criminal group in the last 30 years.
