In Ukraine, they plan to create a high-quality and modern veterans' policy, which has no analogues in the world yet. She must provide appropriate support to all the defenders and defenders of Ukraine.

This was told by the Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Yulia Laputina on the air of a joint news marathon. She called the work on empowering states to support veterans a unique experience.

Psychological support under the new veterans policy

The minister stressed that in Ukraine it is necessary to form a culture of psychological assistance, because in the conditions of a full-scale war, more and more people need it. As an example, she cited both civilians and the military, who saw and felt the real horrors during the occupation of the Kiev region by the Russians. According to her, after the experience, people themselves realized that they needed to turn to psychologists.

There is a program of psychological support and assistance in Ukraine, but the specialists who studied with us are mainly social and child psychologists. And the current situation in Ukraine requires a different specialization, namely emergency psychological and psychiatric care.

That is why we will build a system of comprehensive psychological rehabilitation, which will concern not only veterans. For this, more powerful features will be involved.

On the basis of the rehabilitation center in Borodyanka, which, by the way, was damaged by a direct tank strike, a new modern center for psychological assistance and rehabilitation “Borodyanka-Center” will be built. The world's leading psychological centers, foreign psychologists and scientists will be involved in this project.“Given that the majority of people in Ukraine need psychological help even after the victory, we, as the government, want to put it on a systematic footing so that this help is provided, practices are analyzed, and relevant specialists are trained in our educational institutions,” Laputina said.

Help to the defenders and defenders of Ukraine

I am very proud that our defenders and defenders go to war (24 channel) not for “statuses”, but to win and protect the country, – the minister stressed.

However, the state must mark them and give each the status of a participant in hostilities. This should be honorable for our citizens, and at the same time give appropriate social guarantees.

Now there are basic laws on social guarantees for servicemen, war veterans and members of their families. By the way, recently the Verkhovna Rada decided to add volunteers to this list, in particular, the territorial defense forces will be able to enjoy the corresponding normalized benefits.

However, there is now a high need to reform the veterans' policy. The fact is that the policy that has been laid down for 30 years was prepared for veterans of the Second World War and wars in the territories of other states. And over the 8 years of the war against Russia, the modernization and reform of this industry, unfortunately, did not happen.

After the victory of Ukraine, there will be much more veterans, defenders and defenders in need of support, and therefore a high-quality and thoughtful program.

“We want to lay other foundations, because in the future, after the victory, life in the country will be completely different. And veterans will be different – they are younger, more active and more conscious. Therefore, we must provide them with a tool for to be effective not only for the military.” actions, but also in civilian life, when the restoration of the country begins,” Yulia Laputina explained.

We are talking about modern tools for development and the mechanism for the transition from military to civilian life. These are employment, the development of veteran entrepreneurship, retraining for a civilian specialty, preferential loans, and the possibility of obtaining certain services.
