The Russian ship “Sergey Kotov” is the second patrol corvette of Project 22160, which Russia built at the facilities of the Zaliv shipyard in temporarily occupied Crimea. In addition, it is also the fourth corvette of this type in the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

It is known that on January 29, 2021, the Zaliv shipyard, operating in the occupied Crimea, launched the new patrol ship “Sergey Kotov” is on the water.

The construction of this ship lasted almost 4 years. So, this corvette joined the Black Sea Fleet in July 2022.

In Russia, this ship project is one of the most modern. It is known that four such ships have now been launched. We are talking about the vessels “Vasily Bykov”, “Dmitry Rogachev”, “Pavel Derzhavin” and “Sergey Kotov”. So far, only the Dmitry Rogachev has not received damage.

• On the night of March 5, Ukrainian naval drones attacked and destroyed the Russian Project 22160 patrol ship “Sergey Kotov” in the Black Sea.
• The ship was attacked by Magura V5 naval drones. The stern, right and left sides of the ship were damaged.
• GUR representative Andrey Yusov said that information on the crew was being clarified. “There are dead and wounded. However, there is a possibility that part of the crew could have been evacuated. At least it is known that more than 10 ambulances were called by the enemy on the nearest landmass. That is, the evacuation operation was still carried out,” he noted.
