Men IT workers may be allowed to travel abroad/Collage 24 channels
Men in the IT industry may be allowed to travel abroad during martial law. Decisions are planned to be considered in the coming days.
This step was announced by Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for IT Development Alexander Bornyakov, Channel 24 reports.
A number of departments are working on a mechanism regulating the travel of IT specialists abroad
As Bornyakov explains, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, 70% of IT companies have not lost the pace of doing business. Most of them have attracted new clients. Another part is waiting for the scaling of business processes. Consequently, the issue of traveling abroad is becoming more and more relevant, in particular for meetings with customers and foreign partners.
Personal contact is very important. There are things like conferences, business forums where you need to attend, demonstrate your business and attract new customers. It could have been postponed for a month or two, but now there is nowhere to put it off,” the deputy head of the Ministry of Digital Development noted.
The Ministry of Digital Development, together with the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff and the Ministry of Economy, began to develop a mechanism that would allow men working in the IT industry, from Ukraine for a short period of time. In return, they must provide guarantees that they will return from a business trip.
“It is necessary that all branches of government make this decision, primarily the Ministry of Defense. We see that there is already an understanding. We are talking about a maximum of 2-3 weeks, but I think that even if we talk about 5-7 working days, this will be enough to resolve the issue and return,” says Bornyakov.
According to him, IT companies will represent a limited list of people, not exceeding 10% of the total number of employees. After that, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Economy will consider candidates, and only after that they will be able to issue permission to travel abroad. The issued permit will indicate the period for which the company's employees can leave the territory of Ukraine.
At the moment, it is forbidden to leave our state for men who are between 18 and 60 years old. There are, of course, exceptions to the rules that allow men of military age to travel outside the country.
Zelensky responded to a petition to lift the travel ban for men of military age
Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially responded to the petition “Repeal the ban on leaving Ukraine for men aged 18 to 60 and introduce the priority of conscription during the mobilization of volunteers.” The President stressed that according to the Constitution of Ukraine, Ukrainians can freely leave its borders. But now the country has introduced martial law, which is an exception to the law. And it will be possible to lift these restrictions only after the end of the special legal regime.
