Ukrainian fighters managed to launch a counteroffensive in Kharkiv region. Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated 20 settlements.
The Institute for the Study of War notes that the Ukrainian forces took advantage of a tactical surprise. The Armed Forces of Ukraine went on a counteroffensive in the Kherson region, and as a result, they achieved success in the Kharkiv direction. According to military observer Denis Popovich, the events of recent days are largely a coincidence. However, this may also be a well-planned information operation to distract the Kherson region. He said this on channel 24.
This set of circumstances has developed as a result of the fact that Russian troops were mainly transferred to the Kherson region, in particular from the Kharkov region. We managed to carry out such a counter-offensive in the Kharkiv region, which achieved operational goals and was carried out to the operational depth, Popovych said.
The General Staff reported that the Ukrainian military advanced 50 kilometers deep into the Russian defenses. “There are reports that the advance continues, and supposedly we are already near Kupyansk,” the military observer adds.
Consequences of the redeployment of troops
According to Popovich, the concentration of these troops in the Kherson direction could be led directly Vladimir Putin. It can be assumed that he wanted to create either an attack on Nikolaev, or defensive orders, so as not to give up the right bank of the Kherson region.
