It is realistic to destroy the entire oil refining industry in Russia, Svitan named the condition

Ukraine is striking hard at the enemy’s oil refining capacities. Theoretically, by the end of the year it is quite possible to wrest this industry from Russia.

About this 24 Channel said reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, pilot-instructor, military expert Roman Svitan, noting that such strikes are a continuation of the “Malyuk sanctions”.

Knocking out the enemy’s oil refining capacities may create problems for the occupiers. They need aviation kerosene and diesel.

If there is no diesel and aviation kerosene, the Russian army will “dry up.” They have a “supply reach” of about 500 kilometers. Problems with diesel and aviation kerosene will make it impossible to carry out combat missions, said Svitan.

It is quite possible to create significant problems

As Svitan noted, one of the main tasks of the SBU is to destroy the Russian oil refining industry. In parallel, the Main Intelligence Directorate is knocking out the military capabilities of the invaders – hitting ships and military airfields. This could have a significant impact on the Russian military.

Importantly, Ukraine now has the ability to use attack drones over 1000 kilometers. Most likely, it is a matter of time before there will be long-range drones. Then it will be possible to destroy factories located near the Urals.

Based on this, we can say that this year the special services may well solve the problem of disabling most of the oil refineries, terminals, and various oil depots, at least in the western part of Russia. It is realistic to destroy the oil refining industry in Russia,” Svitan noted.

There are about 30 large oil refineries located on Russian territory. About 80 more – a few smaller ones. There are also about a dozen under construction. By the end of the year it is quite possible to create huge problems for them with fuel.

Strikes on Russian refineries: briefly

  • Ukraine began to actively attack Russia’s oil refining capacities. According to Bloomberg, at the moment such attacks have “paused” about 12% of the enemy’s oil refining capacity.
  • In addition, in Russia for the first time in 6 months the price per ton of gasoline brand AI-95 exceeded the mark of 60 thousand rubles. Prices for other fuels also increased.
  • As a result of the strike, Rosneft's largest oil refinery lost about 70% of its capacity. We are talking about the Ryazan Oil Refinery.
