GNSU has limited the number of checkpoints through which it is allowed to import cars from abroad. From now on, there are only three of them: two on the border with Poland and one with Slovakia.

This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on its Facebook page. On the Government Portal, a corresponding order dated May 03, 2022 No. 354-r “The issue of moving individual vehicles across the customs border of Ukraine” was posted.

The government allowed the movement of vehicles purchased outside the customs territory of Ukraine by citizens of Ukraine, only at three checkpoints for road traffic.

Among them:

  • “Ustilug” (on the border with Poland);
  • “Grushev” (on the border with Poland);
  • “Maly Berezny” (on the border with Slovakia).

Recall that on April 5, 2022, a law came into force in Ukraine that abolishes all taxes when importing vehicles from abroad. The Ukrainian government sought to replenish the number of vehicles destroyed in the war, the losses of which were about 200 thousand units.

However, it is noted that Ukrainians actively began to import cars into Ukraine for their own fleet, which created huge queues at the borders.< /p>

Subsequently, on April 26, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy developed Draft Law No. 7311 “On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine and other laws of Ukraine regarding certain taxes and fees during martial law, state of emergency.” The goal of the project is the complete abolition of preferential customs clearance of cars.

After the adoption of this bill, taxes will have to be paid again. For used cars, these taxes can range from 40 to 100% of the value of this car in Europe.

What is known about crossing the border: in brief
