It is necessary to replace the military: an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine advised how to prepare for mobilization

Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022 forced thousands of people to defend the country. Most of these people did not have military experience and acquired it already in battle, so those men who have not yet fought or served in the army should already be preparing for possible mobilization.

This was told to Channel 24 by an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a military political scientist Irina Sergeeva. According to her, everyone who is not in the service should understand that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are former civilians, most of whom came on February 24.

What should civilians prepare for?

Irina Sergeeva said that in the first months of the war, newly mobilized without experience fought in sneakers and jeans, because there was no proper support. The defenders have been in position for about 11 months, so civilians should understand that they can replace them soon.

For about 11 months they have already been in the combat zone without any leave, rotation and rest. And our people must understand that tomorrow they may be in the same place, replacing them. We just have no other choice,” the officer said.

Sergeeva noted the insane pace of Russian mobilization and said that even the special operations forces are also former civilians.

Every mother must realize that sooner or later she will send her son into battle, every wife must understand that she will let go of her husband’s skirt, and every man of military age must understand that sooner or later he will be forced to join the army, so that we simply have no other choice,” the political scientist said.

Irina Sergeeva said that no one would come to fight for Ukraine. Partners can provide equipment, but only Ukrainians will die for Ukraine. Therefore, as an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted, civilians now need to learn at least basic tactical medicine skills, because there is no way to get qualified medical care on the battlefield, and, for example, in Bakhmut, the time for evacuating a wounded soldier is 3 hours.

For those who still remain in civilian life, Sergeeva advises to study tactical medicine, collect equipment and watch at least YouTube videos on how to use the AK.

Mobilization in Ukraine: what is known

  • Starting from February 24, 2022, mobilization continues in Ukraine. Men are called up for service between the ages of 18 and 60, and in some cases even older.
  • Men without military experience are also mobilized. For them, training will be organized, which lasts at least 1 month. So far, the army most of all needs shooters and tankers.
  • From 2023, Ukrainians who are abroad for more than 3 months must be registered in the state of residence through diplomatic institutions.
