Palatny commented on the new import tax/Channel 24
If you introduce an additional fee on imports, you need to protect social goods and military goods that volunteers bring from abroad from rising prices.< /p>ShareFbTwiTelegramViberShareFbTwiTelegramViber
This was stated by the head of the volunteer headquarters “Ukrainian team” Artur Palatny.
“The government plans to legalize a new type of additional customs duties by introducing a 10% levy on foreign exchange transactions for the import of goods and services. He explains his initiative by trying to balance the balance of payments. If there is really an urgent need for the economy to introduce an additional import levy, then the government should approach the issue more targeted and balanced, to protect socially sensitive goods (because even bread will rise in price) and all goods and services for the defense of the country, including for volunteering,” Palatny said.
He noted that the introduction of an additional fee of 10% on foreign exchange transactions for the import of goods and services, which the government plans to introduce, may lead to:
- an increase in prices, in particular for fuel;
- even more shadowing of the foreign exchange market
- revival of “schemes” at customs.
It will also complicate the work of volunteers.
The introduction of an additional 10% import duty will not only lead to inflation and increase in the cost of goods, but will also complicate volunteer work and assistance to our soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The cost of goods that volunteers are now transporting from abroad for the needs of our defenders will increase. The cost of cars for Ukrainians and for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will increase even more,โ Palatny emphasized.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers is preparing a bill to introduce an additional 10% fee on foreign exchange transactions for the purchase of all imported goods and services. The document is expected to be registered with the Verkhovna Rada in the coming weeks.
