Danilov believes that Russia has been planning to seize Ukraine for decades/Collage of Channel 24
NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov stressed that Russia had been preparing to seize Ukraine for almost 20 years. And it all started with the presidential elections in 2004, when Ukrainians chose between Yushchenko and Yanukovych.
Aleksey Danilov voiced the corresponding opinion at the telethon. He added that Russia does not even hide what they plan to achieve in the war against Ukraine, Channel 24 reports.
Putin wants to take back “his territories”
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council commented on Dmitry Rogozin's remark. The head of Roskosmos noted that Russia needs to either defeat Ukraine, or its existence will cease.The same statement was made by Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev. He was more cynical in his statement, giving our country a conditional two more years of existence.
These are their dreams. They are known, and I can say that they started trying to destroy our state quite a long time ago. Of course, they don't quite get it. To do this, they go to the extreme stage – to drop all the masks. They have nothing to hide already,” Danilov said.
He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin has already frankly says that the aggressor country “takes its territories”. It is not difficult to understand that Ukraine is included in this plan.
Therefore, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council emphasized that this is not about the fight for Donetsk and Lugansk region. The Russians continue to publicly state that the destruction of Ukraine, as well as our nation, is the No. 1 task that they seek to accomplish.
It all started in 2004
Oleksiy Danilov noted that this story is not something new for Ukrainians. She, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council is sure, lasts for decades. Moreover, the active phase fell on 2004. When Viktor Yushchenko and Viktor Yanukovych fought for the post of head of state in the presidential elections. And right now we have the opportunity to observe the consequences of what has begun since then.
Oleksiy Danilov stressed that he was confident in the victory of Ukraine. Moreover, we will be able to overcome the disease that plans to spread throughout Europe. And international partners help us in this. In particular, Great Britain, the USA, the Baltic countries, Poland and other states.
Ukraine will receive even more weapons
On June 15, a meeting of defense ministers was held as part of the Rammstein-3 meeting. Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov told us what weapons the partner states will provide us with. We are talking about:
- 155-mm cannons, HIMARS missile systems, Harpoon anti-ship systems and others from the USA;
- Ukraine will receive helicopters from Slovakia;
- artillery will be provided to us from Canada, Poland and the Netherlands;
- but multiple launch rocket systems will come to Ukraine from Germany.
Ukraine is grateful to international partners for their help. At the same time, the leadership of our state does not stop begging for an increase in the number of weapons that are provided to us. The more it will be, the higher will be the chances to quickly overcome Russian aggression.
