ISW assessed the ability of the Russian defense industry to support greater mobilization

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) doubt that the Russian military-industrial complex can provide greater mobilization in the Russian Federation.

— Russia will be able to expand its OPB and accumulate resources if it maintains a theater-wide initiative through 2024, although unlikely to a sufficient extent to support the large masses of mobilized reservists or conscripts this year, — they say.

They made their conclusions, in particular, based on the assessment of a military expert, coordinator of the Information Resistance group Konstantin Mashovets, who stated that the Russian defense industry is capable of producing about 250-300 “new and thoroughly modernized&# 8221; tanks per year and approximately the same number to overhaul.

At the same time, in his opinion, the defense enterprises of the aggressor country cannot produce enough materials to equip large reserves, if such a need suddenly arises.

— Even with these higher estimates, the Russian defense industrial base is unlikely to support a large mobilization of personnel and will likely require significant expansion to support larger offensive operations that will require the use of large reserves of personnel, — analysts summed up.
