China recently announced its new “Friends of Peace” initiative. Analysts believe that Russia could use it to its advantage.

China announced the “Friends of Peace” initiative amid expanding cooperation with Russia. This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War.

Russia will try to show that Ukraine is allegedly against negotiations

The Chinese “Friends of Peace” platform was announced on September 26. Countries from the Global South are ready to join it.

“China has announced a new initiative to attract international support for its alternative peace plan for Ukraine amid expanding cooperation with Russia. On September 26, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced that China, Brazil, Pakistan and “other like-minded countries in the Global South” will soon create a “Friends of Peace” platform,” ISW writes.

This initiative will allegedly be aimed at promoting “inclusive dialogue” to find ways to end the war in Ukraine.

ISW noted that China has regularly promoted its alternative peace plan. In doing so, he allowed Russia to “manifest” its willingness to negotiate with Ukraine in good faith.

But in reality, the Kremlin has made only repeated calls for Ukraine's complete capitulation and categorical refusals to negotiate.

The Kremlin will likely promote this new “Friends of Peace” platform and use its support for numerous alternative peace efforts to falsely portray Ukraine as unwilling to negotiate, according to the Institute for the Study of War.
