For the duration of the martial law regime and general mobilization, citizens liable for military service are prohibited from traveling abroad. Against the background of the recent scandal with the stand-up comedian who fled to Turkey, this issue will be discussed at a meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander.
This was announced on the air of the national telethon by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexei Danilov. At the next meeting, they will talk about the temporary departure of men.
There are cases when, having received a temporary exit permit, people did not return.
Alexey Danilov stressed that, unfortunately, not everyone understands that, having received permission to travel abroad, a person must return. For example, 6 people received permission to leave from the Ministry of Culture in December last year and did not return.
We had an unfortunate example when the Ministry of Culture granted permission in December – six people went to represent the country as artists. Unfortunately, they did not return to Ukraine. Moreover, they defiantly begin to comment and post on social networks that they are so smart that someone should fight,” Danilov emphasized.
At the next meeting of the Headquarters, according to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, the ministers will report on how many exit permits they have given and will report on the situation in this matter.
Danilov also noted that he supports changes in legislation aimed at strengthening the processes regarding the temporary departure of men abroad.
Scandal with comedian Schegel
Comedian Andrei Shchegel said that after the subpoenas, he fled from Ukraine to Turkey. He was able to go abroad as an artist, with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy. The artist said that he was not ashamed, and the belligerents now allegedly independently made their choice to die.
The Ministry of Culture reacted to the current situation. They confirmed that during martial law, people working in the field of culture and information are assisted in obtaining permission to cross the border. However, with a mandatory return to Ukraine.
The ICIP adds that Andrei Shchegel was part of a group that was granted temporary permission to travel abroad. They emphasize that the comedian's actions are “unacceptable”, especially in a state of martial law.
After a wave of indignation, Shchegel decided not to stop and called Ukraine “his circus with soldered morons” and accused people who criticized him of envy, because he allegedly realizes his right to a good life. True, after that the comedian decided to apologize for his statements and complain about the threats.
