Israel plans to conduct a “limited ground operation” in Lebanon. It could begin in the near future, an Israeli official told Washington.

The Washington Post wrote about this on September 30.

Israel has warned of preparations for a ground operation in Lebanon

It is noted that the planned operation “will be less large-scale” than the war with Hezbollah in 2006. It will focus on destroying the group's infrastructure along the border to eliminate the threat to residents of Israel's border regions, the U.S. official said on condition of anonymity.

Israeli forces carried out limited raids in Lebanon on Monday, an Israeli familiar with the operation said.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said the next phase of the war against Hezbollah would begin soon, The Times of Israel reported, allowing residents of northern Israel to return home.

“The next phase of the war against Hezbollah will begin soon. It will be a significant factor in changing the security situation and will allow us to complete the important (mission) of returning residents to their homes,” Galant said.

The Israeli military plans to “shift the center of gravity to the north,” he said. The head of the Israeli defense department also promised to “bring people home.”
