Ukraine imposes restrictions on the entry of Israeli citizens, in particular pilgrims. Earlier, Israel also introduced additional restrictions for Ukrainians.

At the same time, the embassy recalled that Ukraine and Israel have had close relations since the introduction of a visa-free policy in 2010.

Ukraine and Israel introduce restrictions

Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevhen Korniychuk said that Israel is changing its visa policy and introducing restrictions for Ukrainians, which is why Ukraine “will be forced to respond”.

On July 1, citizens of countries with a visa-free entry regime to Israel (Ukraine is among them) must apply for an ETA-IL permit to stay in the country for up to 90 days, the statement said.

According to the Ukrainian embassy, recent Israeli actions such as “restricting Ukrainian refugees” and “refusing entry to many Ukrainians” have strained relations, and the latest requirement “ends the visa-free regime.”

This mutual action will affect thousands of religious pilgrims who visit Ukraine every year, which remains open to dialogue with Israel to discuss and negotiate changes to travel policy in favor of both countries, the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel concluded.

The MFA is considering the specifics of electronic visas that need to be introduced.
