Palestinian militants are holding more than 200 captives. The media learned how many hostages Hamas is ready to release and under what conditions.

The Israeli side conducted difficult negotiations with terrorists for the release of prisoners. In the end, it was possible to reach agreement on the exchange of hundreds of people.

What did you agree on?

Journalists familiar with the negotiations note that Israel insisted on exchanging as many people as possible. The parties eventually agreed to release Palestinian women and children held by Israel in exchange for 100 women and children held by Hamas.

Earlier, the representative of the Israel Defense Forces, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, said that 245 hostages were being held captive by Hamas. In addition, the country's leadership noted that the release of hostages is the main condition for a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The day before, according to the White House, Israel agreed to introduce daily four-hour pauses in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. This will be done so that Palestinians from the north of the region can move to the south.

Let us recall that the IDF completely cordoned off the city of Gaza, and the enclave itself was divided into two parts. Hamas has lost control of the northern Gaza Strip.

  • On October 24, the militants freed two more elderly hostages – 79-year-old Nurit Cooper and 85-year-old Yocheved Lifshitz.
  • In addition, according to Israeli media reports, the Red Cross is negotiating the exchange of 50 foreign prisoners through the mediation of Qatar.
  • Hamas militants also declared their readiness to release Russians from captivity, because “they look at Russia as their closest friend.”
