Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian is going to Russia. He wants to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.
Yes, the minister said that the main purpose of his visit to Moscow is “to help resolve the crisis in Ukraine.” However, it is not clear which side it is.
What is known about the visit
Abdollahian leaves Tehran for Moscow on August 31st. He himself claims that the visit was agreed after several Western states asked him to “play a big role in stopping the war.”
The minister plans to meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov. In addition to Ukraine, they should talk about “bilateral cooperation and Afghanistan issues.”
Russia bought drones from Iran
- Lebanese journalist Elijah Magier, citing his own sources, said that Iran will provide Russia with 1,000 reconnaissance and strike drones.
