Iran may now find itself in a very difficult situation: what will cooperation with Russia be like? Angela Figin

On October 1, Iran launched up to 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. Because of this, the United States threatened Tehran with “serious consequences,” which could also affect Iranian-Russian relations.

Political scientist Oleg Lesnoy expressed this opinion to Channel 24. Recall that in early September it became known that Iran had transferred more than 200 Fath-360 missiles to Russia.

Will Iran be able to continue helping Russia

The media reported that in October 2022, Tehran allegedly signed an agreement with the Kremlin to supply missiles to Russia. Iran has since expanded two key ballistic missile production facilities.

As of the summer of 2024, Iran's missile arsenal was described as the largest in the Middle East. It is estimated at more than 3,000 missiles.

However, due to the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, one of Russia's main allies, Iran, may find itself in a difficult situation.

You don't have to be a military expert to understand that when you (Iran – Channel 24) get involved in a serious conflict, you are unlikely to sell, for example, ballistic missiles to Russia, Lesnoy said.

According to him, if one of the allies of the aggressor country is distracted by its own problems, then it can be assumed that it will not be up to helping Russia.

However, for now, unfortunately, Russia and Iran are trying to strengthen cooperation. The aggressor country's Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin recently arrived in Tehran for talks with Iranian leaders on strengthening cooperation between the two countries. At the upcoming BRICS summit, which will be held in Kazan from October 22 to 24, the countries may sign an agreement on strategic partnership.
