“Therefore, our devotion to Ukraine today is an investment in our own security. This prevents a wider conflict tomorrow. We keep American troops out of this war by supporting the brave Ukrainians who defend their freedom and homeland. We are providing them with weapons and economic assistance to stop Putin's quest for conquest before the conflict spreads further.
The American leader emphasized that the United States “is not doing this alone.”
“More than 50 countries have joined us to ensure that Ukraine has everything it needs to defend itself.” Our partners shoulder much of the economic responsibility for supporting Ukraine,” Biden added.
Biden previously signed a stopgap budget without aid to Ukraine to avoid a US government shutdown.
