Investigative actions in Medvedchuk's case are already at the final stage/SBU

The Security Service of Ukraine in April detained Viktor Medvedchuk, who, in the form of a Ukrainian military man, tried to escape from the state. Investigative actions in his case are already being completed.

This was reported to Channel 24 by Fyodor Venislavsky, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense.

“According to my information, already at the final stage, all the necessary actions that should have been taken by the pre-trial investigation bodies,” the people's deputy said.

Venislavsky recalled that Medvedchuk was detained after he violated the terms of the decision court as a measure of suppression.

I hope that in the near future the materials of the case will be submitted to the court, the deputy noted.

Can Russia still trade Medvedchuk

After the arrest, the Ukrainian authorities offered Russia to exchange him for captured Ukrainians. Subsequently, Medvedchuk himself addressed a corresponding request to Vladimir Zelensky and Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin did not react to this proposal for a long time, but later reported that they were not interested in this.

Venislavsky assured that it is not yet known how information about the exchange of Medvedchuk is “outlined” in Russia.

“Here the question is very ambiguous. Although I am convinced that any life of a Ukrainian, Ukrainian military defending independence, is worth much more than Medvedchuk and all his fortune,” the people's deputy added.

Detention of Medvedchuk: what is known

  • The head of the SBU, Ivan Bakanov, said that Medvedchuk's escape was prepared by the Russian FSB. He was planned to be transported by boat across the border to Pridnestrovie, and from there to Moscow.
  • Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexei Danilov said at the end of April that Medvedchuk's case was developing very actively. He gives valuable demonstrations about his “murtads”.
  • Medvedchuk's wife, Oksana Marchenko, after the arrest, appealed to Volodymyr Zelensky with a request to immediately release him. She also recorded a video message to politicians in other countries.
