Invaders get ready: an expert said how NASAMS batteries will help destroy hostile targets

Musienko about batteries for NASAMS systems/Collage 24 channel

< strong _ngcontent-sc88="">The United States, as part of a military assistance package, will give Ukraine two batteries in the NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system. They have not only launchers, but also charging vehicles, target detection and maintenance of complexes. This will help destroy enemy targets and protect cities from air danger.

Alexander Musienko, head of the Center for Military Legal Research, told Channel 24 about this. He explained that NASAMS are powerful installations.

According to him, one such battery should include the command center, MLRS, and not just the installation.

In these NASAMS, which are now planned to be delivered to us, there are 9 launchers, and the rest are radar stations, command posts, charging vehicles, etc. Accordingly, there are 9 launchers in each battery, Musienko explained.

The expert said that these NASAMS batteries are interesting in that they allow you to install launch radars and command centers at different points. “That is, they are not located together, and it is impossible to destroy them all at once with one blow,” he said.

In addition, as Musienko says, this is one of the best in world of medium-range systems .

In his opinion, he received such recognition because it is these complexes that are being reinforced to cover the sky over the White House during the inauguration of US presidents.

It is necessary to re-equip air defense systems comprehensively. If NASAMS batteries work in conjunction with American radars that fit the Patriot complexes, you need to choose what can be integrated with each other to protect the Ukrainian sky, he said.

Can Ukraine get a Patriot? To this, Musienko replied that it was possible. The expert believes that long-range air defense systems and PPS systems can become one of the first items under lend-lease.

“Even NASAMS or HIMARS systems were considered nonsense a few months ago. But this needs to be worked on to achieve this. This issue needs to be raised in the lend league,” he noted.

NASAMS

  • On July 1, the United States officially announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. Among other things, there were indicated two batteries in the NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems. They have not only launchers, but also some vehicles for charging, target detection and maintenance of the complexes.
  • In total, NASAMS are medium-range anti-aircraft missile systems (about 160 kilometers). The main purpose is to destroy enemy air targets under any meteorological conditions.
  • The battery of the second generation NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system consists of 12 launchers (each carrying six AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles), eight radars, one fire control center , one electron-optical camera vehicle, and one Tactical Control Cell vehicle.
  • The third-generation NASAMS battery includes six mobile IRIS-T SLS short-range missile launchers mounted on tracked vehicles, as well as a three-wheeled highly mobile launcher.
