Intelligence tracked this convoy from the Russian border, - Zhdanov about the strike on Makeevka

Russia has begun large-scale transfers to the front of the military, who were called up during the “partial” mobilization in the fall of 2022. It was at the location of those in Makeevka that the Ukrainian HIMARS hit.

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov told about this in his stream, Channel 24 reports. He commented on the versions of what could lead to such huge losses on the part of the enemy.

How the Armed Forces of Ukraine found out about the Russians in Makeevka

First of all, the specialist recalled the version of the Russian Ministry of Defense that the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly tracked a large number of phones with geolocation. He expressed doubts about the plausibility of this version.

First of all, in order to peel coordinates, you need to have access to communications universities. And they have been operated by Russian operators there for 8 years, – Oleg Zhdanov emphasized.

According to him, Ukraine does not have access to this equipment. In addition, if you use radar stations for reconnaissance, then Ukraine does not have stations that would “see” at such a great depth to “see” these mobile phones.

“Therefore, the most likely version is our intelligence. Ours or our partners. Moreover, I have already said that we actually tracked this convoy from the border with Russia,” the military expert said.

So, he sums up, intelligence clearly saw where this convoy with Russian mobilized military men was going and where it stopped.

The Makiivka Incident Essentials

  • Right on New Year's Eve, the Armed Forces of Ukraine “congratulated” the enemy on the holiday, striking at Makiivka, where there was a significant accumulation of Russian equipment and manpower. The occupiers settled in the dormitory of the local vocational school – right in the same building with their own ammunition depot.
  • The Russian Ministry of Defense first assured that as a result of the “salute” only 63 Russian soldiers were liquidated. But later the enemy admitted that the number of victims was higher – 89 people, including the deputy commander of the regiment, Colonel Bachurin.
  • However, the real losses of Russia can be much higher – at times, or even ten times. According to various data from Russian publics close to the army, there could be more than 600 mobilized Russians.
