Residents of Mariupol almost completely destroyed by the Russian invaders share terrible stories. They tell how they lived for weeks in a blockade under constant shelling.

Nadezhda, a local resident, spoke about her memories of life in Mariupol. Her last name is not mentioned for the safety of the woman.

At first, the people of Mariupol were sure that this would end soon. They hoped until the shelling became more frequent. “There was a terrible feeling that we were waiting for death. But the worst thing for every Mariupol citizen is the sound of an airplane,” the woman recalled.

This is incredible hell. Instead of sheep, we counted bombs before bed – 43, 44, 45 a night. And every time you realize with alarm that people are dying somewhere after the bomb falls. In fact, they were dying on every meter of the city,” Nadezhda said.

With the arrival of Russian soldiers in Mariupol, she moved several times. She lived, for example, in a hostel on Kievskaya Street, located near the sex house.

It was there that Ukrainian defenders brought water and food to civilians in the besieged city. However, the attacks were getting stronger. As Nadezhda recalled, over time, the Russians bombed everything around – the maternity hospital, the houses on Pashkovsky Street and Pobeda Square.

How Nadezhda managed to escape from hell in Mariupol

Nadezhda remembered that since March 23, people began to walk around and scare us with so-called cleansing operations and talk about evacuation to the village of Vinogradnoye.

We were afraid that we would be forcibly taken away, the woman explained.

However, a small radio saved the woman and her loved ones. They learned about how the “green corridors” and humanitarian supplies of Ukraine are being disrupted. On April 20, we received a message about the evacuation from the Left Bank, took backpacks and left.

“We continue to live in Mariupol. He mentally every second. I miss the city and its streets. We now we would meet with friends, walk in the Raduga park and sit in our favorite cafe. These warm moments are our life, said a resident of Mariupol.

Recall that Ukrainian activists have created a petition demanding the UN, the Secretary General of the organization and regional leaders from around the world to begin an immediate procedure for the evacuation of civilians, all the wounded, the bodies of the dead and Ukrainian servicemen from the blocked Mariupol.
