Where is the Ryazan oil refinery located

The Ryazan oil refinery is one of the top 5 largest enterprises in Russia. According to Reuters, in 2023 the plant processed 12.67 million tons of oil, which is 4.6% of all oil refining in Russia, producing 2.79 million tons of motor gasoline, 3.64 million tons of diesel fuel, 3.12 million tons fuel oil and 0.87 million tons of aviation fuel. The Ryazan refinery is also one of the main suppliers of motor fuel for Russian regions.

The plant is located in the south of Ryazan. Judging by satellite images, the refinery occupies a large area in the industrial zone of the city. Note that the Ryazan Oil Refinery is located more than 500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Drones attacked Russia: what is known

• On the night of May 1, explosions were heard in a number of regions of Russia. There they complained about the drone attack and reported about the work “pe-ve-o”. In particular, it was alarming in the Belgorod, Rostov, Kursk, Voronezh and Ryazan regions.
• As the Russian Ministry of Defense stated, 6 drones were shot down over these regions at night. Interestingly, air raid sirens were heard at night even in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan. Although there was no threat there, the sirens at night pretty much frightened the local residents.
• Channel 24 sources reported that the Main Intelligence Directorate was behind the attack on the Ryazan Oil Refinery. In addition, it is known that drones also attacked an oil refinery in the Voronezh region. Now the consequences of this attack are being clarified.
