Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine and NABU detained the deputy head of the Zaporizhzhya Police Department on suspicion of organizing and participating in a corruption scheme.
According to the investigation, the detainee and his accomplices tried to bribe the director of a regional medical institution.
— For this, the head of the medical institution had to contribute to the victory of predetermined companies in medical procurement, as well as the performance of financial transactions by the specified medical institution in the interests of these companies, — indicated in the message from the law enforcement agency.
When handing over the bribe, in fact “hot”, the deputy head of the region, his assistant and the regional deputy were detained.

Law enforcement officers initiated criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (offer, promise or provision of unlawful benefit to an official) and announced suspicion to the persons involved in the case.
The issue of a preventive measure for each of the participants in the scheme is now being decided. If their guilt is proven in court, they face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Fighting corruption in Ukraine
For 2023, Ukraine added three points in the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) ranking. This is one of the best results for last year in the world.
Now our state has 36 points out of 100 possible and ranks 104th among 180 countries.
The world leaders in the 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index remained almost unchanged. Denmark tops the list with 90 points. It is followed by Finland (87 points), New Zealand (85 points) and Norway (84 points).
The outsiders in the current study also remained unchanged. Somalia ranks last, 180th. And to South Sudan and Syria, which occupy 177th place, Venezuela was added with the same indicators.
