In the city of Novovolynsk, three minors fell through the ice on the lake. Unfortunately, one child died.
The tragedy occurred on a quarry reservoir in Novovolynsk. The children were on the ice 25 meters from the shore.
How the children fell through the ice
As a result of the ice breaking, three children aged 10, 12 and 15 were in the water. Rescuers were called to the scene.

Rescuers crawled across the ice to one of the boys and gave him an assault ladder. The child grabbed him, but the ice fell through and two rescuers also ended up in the water. They were pulled ashore with a rope with a life buoy.

In the end, specialists from the State Emergency Service pulled two children out of the water. Due to the fact that the ice had already been broken in many places, the third boy could only be reached by boat.
Unfortunately, one child, born in 2007, died of hypothermia – he was taken to the shore with no signs of life, – the State Emergency Service noted.
Two rescued children with hypothermia were sent to the hospital. Also hospitalized two rescuers who received hypothermia and hand cuts from ice.
How are the children saved?
The rescued boys are now in critical condition. Doctors carry out resuscitation measures. This was announced in a comment to the Public by the deputy head of the Novovolynsk hospital Natalya Shcherba.
Note! Rescuers note that in the absence of frosty weather, the ice on the reservoirs is still extremely thin and dangerous. Going out on the ice is strictly prohibited. Rescuers urge to explain this to children who are on vacation.
