In Ukraine, high school students will study weapons and shooting training – Ministry of Education and Science

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has updated the curriculum of the school subject Defense of Ukraine for grades 10 and 11.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science.

What will be studied in the updated subject Defense of Ukraine

According to the updated program, in the 10th grade, students will study the basics of national security and defense of Ukraine, get acquainted with the principles of management and planning, study weapons and military equipment.

In addition, high school students will receive practical skills. Considerable attention will be paid to terrain orientation, the basics of engineering fortification and shooting training.

In 11th grade, students will study the development of military technologies, information security features and pre-medical care.

At the same time, high school students will study the protection of civilians in crisis conditions, as well as the capabilities and methods of defending Ukraine.

The updated program of the subject Defense of Ukraine emphasizes practical training. Thus, each module provides for the acquisition and development of specific skills in drone control, information security, navigation, open source intelligence (OSINT), stress and psychological resilience.

To develop practical skills, schools will definitely hold field training camps or training sessions.

What is the purpose of updating the program of the subject Defense of Ukraine

The department explained that updating the program is aimed at developing in young people a national identity and skills to protect their own lives.

The draft program provides uniform content for everyone, regardless of gender, which promotes equal opportunities in acquiring important skills.
