In the Gaisinsky district of the Vinnitsa region, 2 children aged 4 and 12 died due to mushroom poisoning. A dish from a deadly product was prepared for them by their mother.
The mother did not take the children to the hospital on time: a case was opened against her
The woman gathered mushrooms in the forest and brought them home. However, it turned out that some of them were poisonous.
The children ate the mushroom dish. When their condition worsened, the woman self-medicated. Due to the fact that she did not go to the hospital in time, the children became worse. After the patients were hospitalized, the mother did not admit that she gave them mushrooms to eat. Time was lost and it was not possible to save the children.
Law enforcement officers opened a criminal case against the woman.
The mother angrily did not fulfill her parental duties and did not turn to the medical an institution for providing children with the necessary medical care. This led to serious consequences in the form of the death of children, the police said in a statement.
If the woman is found guilty, she faces a restriction or imprisonment for a period of 2 to 5 years.
How to pick mushrooms correctly: tips
- It is better to stop consuming wild mushrooms altogether , and replace them with those that are sold in the distribution network;
- do not buy mushrooms in spontaneous markets;
- pay attention to the color of the cap, sponge, legs;

- do not try raw mushrooms;
- at home yet check the mushrooms carefully once;
- cook the mushrooms within the first 24 hours after harvesting;
- boil them at least three times each time in fresh water;
- store dishes with mushrooms in the refrigerator in an enamel bowl for no more than a day.
