The Russian military wants to occupy Ukrainian cities, but at the same time they completely destroy some of the settlements, for example, Mariupol. There are several reasons why the occupiers behave this way.

Political scientist Oleg Sahakyan spoke about this on the air of Channel 24.

Firstly, the Russian army does not know how to fight differently. According to Sahakyan, the occupiers have already lost many of their most combat-ready units, which could hypothetically carry out cleansing inside the cities.

Therefore, for them, the capture of cities is just impregnable fortresses. They will destroy them,” the political scientist said.

Secondly, it is important for Russia to create psychological pressure on the Ukrainian authorities and our citizens, because the information about the atrocities in Mariupol, Bucha, Irpin and other settlements is simply appalling.

Thirdly, this behavior of the Russians is ” binding with the blood of their own, because destroyed cities, raped people, massively killed civilians – these are war crimes. In this way, Putin ensures a rebellion within the military, because then they will all be “in the same boat.”

Now the Russian military, starting with the highest leadership and ending with junior officers, sign with blood that they are in the same boat with Putin. In the case of the tribunal, they are actually part of these crimes.
