In the Rivne region on Christmas Eve, a whole family was poisoned by carbon monoxide

Another tragedy on Christmas Eve occurred in the Rivne region. An entire family was poisoned by carbon monoxide. Fortunately, they managed to be hospitalized in time.

According to the rescuers of the State Emergency Service, on January 6, residents of the village of Oparipsy, Dubensky district, were hospitalized with a diagnosis of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The whole family was hospitalized at once:

  • a woman born in 1984,
  • men born in 1985,
  • two children – boys born in 2008 and 2016.

Doctors assess the condition of the victims as satisfactory. We add that another tragedy occurred on Christmas Eve, but this time in the Odessa region. In the village of Belino, a mother and three small children died as a result of a fire in a private house.

Increasing cases of carbon monoxide poisoning in Ukraine

  • On Sunday, December 25, in the city of Dubno, a whole family was poisoned by carbon monoxide. The parents and the 5-year-old child were taken to the hospital.
  • In Transcarpathia, on December 13, they found spouses without signs of life. Later it turned out that they were poisoned by carbon monoxide.
  • Five children were poisoned by carbon monoxide in the Odessa region on December 7. The preliminary cause of poisoning is a violation of fire safety rules during the operation of a heating furnace (cracks).

Note that due to the numerous massive shelling of the Russians, the Ukrainians are forced to heat their homes using different methods. Sometimes it ends in tragedy.

How to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning

  • it is forbidden to use faulty and unrepaired heating stoves for heating;
  • in no case do not use heaters in the absence of draft in the pipe;
  • during the installation of the gas column of the boiler, it is necessary to provide a separate chimney for the removal of combustion products;
  • when using solid fuel, it is impossible to close the hood until the fuel is completely burned;
  • in case of strong wind, rain, fog, a reverse draft may occur in the smoke channel, as a result of which the products of gas combustion remain in the room. Therefore, under adverse weather conditions, be especially careful when using gas appliances with an organized removal of combustion products.
