Russia is in danger of falling apart due to defeat in the bloody war against Ukraine. After that, the question will probably arise about the fate of the Kuban region, which may become part of Ukraine.

This was stated at the Forum of Free Peoples of Post-Russia by Yevgeny Bursanidis, a columnist, political exile and a native of Sochi, writes Channel 24. He stated that one of the solutions for the Krasnodar Territory after the Russian invasion is to join Ukraine .

The idea of Kuban as part of Ukraine was popular a century ago

According to him, given the historical and cultural ties between Ukraine and Kuban, the region may become part of Ukraine, or become independent.

The observer drew attention to the fact that in 1919 there was already an idea to annex the Kuban Territory to Ukraine. In particular, the idea of joining the Ukrainian State on a federal basis was popular among the Kuban Cossacks.

We also see one of the options as a possible accession to Ukraine on a federal or confederal basis. Time will tell which path is better – independence or being part of Ukraine. The existence of the Kuban, the modern Krasnodar Territory, as part of Ukraine or as an independent state, will be beneficial for everyone, – Bursanidis said and stressed that the region is very rich.
