In the Black Sea off the coast of Ukraine, a merchant ship loaded with grain received minor damage. The bulk carrier previously ran over a sea mine.

This was reported by Reuters, citing maritime specialists and a source in the Ukrainian government.

Four sources said the Liberian-flagged bulk carrier Georgia S was en route from the southern Odessa region with a cargo of wheat when it was damaged on the high seas.

A Ukrainian government source told Reuters on Friday that the ship was likely hit by a floating sea mine. The cargo ship was heading to the Romanian port of Constanta.

The Greek company Seagate Navigation, which owns the ship, has not yet commented on the incident.
