< strong _ngcontent-sc130="">In Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, they decided to express their solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Part of the park near the Russian embassy will be called the Place of Free Ukraine.

The head of the Swedish capital, Anna Koenig Jerlmur, said that the reason was the Russian invasion of Ukraine. She assured that this symbol of solidarity with our state would last.

This will be a lasting symbol of Stockholm's solidarity with the Ukrainian people and an important signal against the actions of the Russian regime. Anna Koenig Yerlmuir said.

This decision of Stockholm to rename the park arose as a result of similar actions of other cities in the world. In particular, to show support for Ukraine, the capital of Latvia, Riga, has renamed the street where the Russian embassy is located. Now it is called Nezavisimaya Ukrainy Street. And the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, also joined the initiative. They changed the name of the street of the Russian embassy to the street of Heroes of Ukraine.

We add that after the invasion of Russia and Ukraine, Sweden changed its views on the security of its citizens. Now the country, together with Finland, intends to join NATO.

The wave of “de-Russification” in Ukraine

Consequently, the Soviet sculpture of two workers, which was a symbol of the “reunification of Ukraine and Russia”, was dismantled in Kyiv.
  • Lvov also joined the initiative. The mayor's office has published a list of streets to be de-Russified as soon as possible. At the same time, a special working group will discuss each street at the meeting.
  • We also decided to change the memorial of Eternal Glory in Lutsk. They also aim to correct the date when the Second World War began. The mayor promised that the improvement will be resumed as soon as possible after the work has been completed.
