When the minister offered to shake hands with President Pellegrini, who was standing nearby, Omanik refused, although the president had already extended his hand. After that, they took a photo together.
As the schoolboy explained, he refused to shake Pellegrini's hand because he believed that he had won the election through “deception and lies”.
He noted that in addition to the “eternally populist promises of cheap food and cheap gas” the president manipulated the topic of the war in Ukraine, creating an image of his opponent as a “war candidate”, which could have caused fear and anti-Ukrainian sentiment in some parts of Slovak society.
— It was a lie and an attack on the lowest human instincts of fear and, perhaps, even anti-Ukrainian sentiment in some parts of the Slovak population. And I don’t think it would be right to shake hands with such a person or communicate with him, because I disagree with him and consider him a fraud and a liar, — Omanik added.
Earlier, Aktuality reported that Peter Pellegrini refused to make an official visit to Kyiv. He made this decision because Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian gas through its territory.
