In Russia, they said that they would allegedly study the possibility of exchanging Viktor Medvedchuk for the defenders of Mariupol. The corresponding statement appeared in the media space on May 21.
Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs and head of the LDPR faction, said that they would study the possibility of exchanging Medvedchuk for the defenders of Mariupol. According to him, this will be done by people in Moscow who “have such powers.” The corresponding statement was distributed by RosSMI, Channel 24 reports.
Kuma Putin was detained in the spring of 2022. As early as May 13, President Volodymyr Zelensky offered Russia to exchange Medvedchuk for captured Ukrainian defenders. At the same time, the Kremlin was silent at the time.
A few days later, the Ukrainian leader reminded that Ukraine was ready for an exchange. The President stressed that all the signals were publicly and not very publicly transmitted.
Subsequently, Medvedchuk himself, on video, asked to be exchanged for residents and soldiers from Mariupol. The Office of the President then stressed: Mariupol for Putin's godfather is the only proposal that Ukraine can agree to.
Russia continued to be silent. However, later in the Kremlin they disowned Putin's godfather. Dmitry Peskov announced that the Russian leadership is not considering the possibility of exchanging Medvedchuk for captured Ukrainian soldiers. Peskov stressed: this is not even a question.
If we take into account Slutsky's statement, in Russia they changed their shoes on the go. At the same time, the aggressor country constantly disrupts agreements and manipulates its own statements.
Medvedchuk is in custody
Currently, Putin's godfather is in custody. On May 21, the Lviv Court of Appeal decided to leave Medvedchuk in custody. The press service of the court reported that the term of detention of Putin's godfather in custody will be counted from the moment of actual detention. We are talking about 18:15 on April 12, 2022.
Medvedchuk was arrested without the right to bail on April 16. Then it was reported that Putin's godfather was put on the state, interstate and international wanted list.
