Former head of the 5th service of the Russian Federal Security Service Sergei Beseda, who, according to unofficial data, was placed under house arrest shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, has been transferred to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center.< /p>

His case is handled by the Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee, writes Soldatov.
On March 11, the journalist reported that Beseda was placed under house arrest. Among the reasons, his sources named:
- stealing of funds allocated for subversive and undercover work in Ukraine,
- providing deliberately false information about the political situation in Ukraine.

Recall that the 5th service of the FSB (Service of Operational Information and International Relations) includes the Department of Operational Information, which performs the functions of foreign intelligence and deals with attempts to keep the post-Soviet countries in Russia's sphere of influence.
According to journalists, it was he who was responsible for providing Russian President Vladimir Putin with information about political events in Ukraine on the eve of the invasion.
