According to the published information, the above-mentioned decree on the cancellation of payments to prisoners will come into force on January 1, 2025.

To determine that one-time cash payments are not made to citizens of Russia who, on the day of the conclusion of a contract for military service in the Armed Forces of Russia, were serving a sentence of imprisonment, – it is said in document.

Back in the fall of 2022, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin approved one-time payments to those who sign a contract with the Russian defense ministry during the war. In the summer of 2024, the amount of payments to individuals who signed a contract was increased to 400 thousand rubles.

At the same time, in Russian regions, local payments are added to the state payments, which can reach several million rubles. However, the corresponding funding does not apply to prisoners, but to individuals who come to military registration and enlistment offices voluntarily.

By the way, analysts at the Institute for the Study of War previously reported that the Russian government plans to allocate $948 million in one-time payments for signing a military contract in the period from 2025 to 2027.
