On Thursday, January 9, the 25th meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine will be held at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Poland believes that this will be the last such meeting.

This statement was made by Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. This was reported by 24 Kanal with reference to 300 Polityka.

Why the Ramstein meeting on January 9 may be the last

The Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine was created by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. January 9 will be its last meeting before the end of Biden's term. However, the United States assures that the group will not be closed.

The Polish Defense Minister has a different opinion. The country, along with Germany and Italy, leads the armored coalition.

This may be the last meeting of this type, since the new US administration will probably propose a different form of this activity. I believe that NATO should take on a greater burden, as it has taken on a greater burden now, since this year, in activities related to the protection of the airport in Jasionka, said Kosiniak-Kamysz.

It is through this airport that aid from 45 countries is sent to Ukraine.

And on Monday, January 13, Kosiniak-Kamysh initiated a meeting with the G4 and Ukraine.

“I invited the defense ministers of Germany, France, Great Britain and Italy … and with such participation with telecommunications with Minister Umerov from Ukraine … On Monday there will be a very important meeting of the “big five”, we will also talk about all these changes that are happening abroad,” the Polish defense minister added.
